1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines permitted and prohibited uses of the SignLab electronic signature platform ("Service"). It applies to all users, including account holders, team members, and any third party accessing the Service. This AUP is incorporated by reference into the SignLab Terms of Service.
SignLab is committed to maintaining a safe, lawful, and reliable Service. Violations of this AUP may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without refund and, where appropriate, referral to law enforcement.
2. Permitted Uses
The Service is intended for the following lawful business purposes:
- Sending commercial contracts, service agreements, and proposals for signature
- Collecting employee signatures on HR documents, offer letters, and policies
- Obtaining client consent on terms, NDAs, and engagement letters
- Processing tenancy agreements, lease renewals, and property management documents (where e-signatures are valid)
- Managing document workflows for teams and organisations
- Any other lawful purpose for which electronic signatures are valid under applicable law
3. Prohibited Uses
3.1 Fraud and Forgery
- Forging or falsifying any party's identity, signature, or authority
- Impersonating another person or entity when sending or signing documents
- Creating documents with false or misleading information
- Using the Service to facilitate fraudulent financial transactions
3.2 Illegal Activities
- Using the Service for any purpose that violates UAE law, international law, or the laws of the jurisdiction in which you operate
- Sending documents designed to facilitate money laundering, bribery, or corruption
- Processing documents related to illegal goods, services, or activities
- Violating export control regulations or economic sanctions
3.3 Harassment and Abuse
- Sending unsolicited signing requests to individuals who have not consented to receive them
- Using the signing invitation system to send spam or marketing communications
- Harassing, threatening, or intimidating signers or other users
3.4 System Integrity
- Attempting to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service
- Attempting to bypass, disable, or circumvent any security measures
- Introducing malware, ransomware, viruses, or any malicious code
- Using automated tools to create accounts, send documents, or interact with the Service at scale without prior written authorisation
- Reverse engineering, decompiling, or disassembling any part of the Service
3.5 Excluded Document Types
The following document types must not be processed through the Service (see Terms of Service Section 5 for full list):
- Wills and testamentary documents
- Property transfer deeds where wet ink is legally required
- Court orders and notarised documents
- Documents involving minors as signatories
3.6 Data and Privacy
- Uploading documents containing sensitive personal data of third parties without appropriate consent and legal basis
- Processing special category data (health, biometric, criminal records) without explicit consent and appropriate safeguards
- Using the Service in violation of applicable data protection laws
4. Content Standards
All documents processed through the Service must not contain:
- Content that is defamatory, obscene, pornographic, or offensive
- Content that infringes any third-party intellectual property rights
- Content designed to deceive or mislead any party
- Content that promotes or facilitates discrimination, hatred, or violence
5. Enforcement
5.1 Monitoring
SignLab may monitor usage of the Service for compliance with this AUP. We do not routinely read the content of your documents but may review metadata, usage patterns, and system logs to detect abuse.
5.2 Consequences of Violation
If SignLab determines, in its sole discretion, that you have violated this AUP, we may:
- Issue a warning and require corrective action
- Temporarily suspend your account pending investigation
- Permanently terminate your account without refund
- Remove or disable access to offending content
- Report the violation to relevant law enforcement or regulatory authorities
- Pursue legal action to recover damages caused by the violation
5.3 Reporting Violations
To report suspected violations of this AUP, contact abuse@signlab.app. We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly.
6. Cooperation with Authorities
SignLab will cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies, regulatory bodies, and courts in connection with investigations into illegal activities conducted using the Service. Where permitted by applicable law, we will notify affected users of legal requests for their data.
7. Changes to This Policy
SignLab reserves the right to modify this AUP at any time. Material changes will be communicated with no less than 14 days' notice. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the revised AUP.
